There is a growing need for flexible, affordable childcare and camp programs for families. There aren’t many options available in our region.

Many parents work or juggle other activities, so flexible hours of a program are imperative. Safety, the standard of care, socialization, entertainment, access to healthy foods, and the program’s affordability, are all important factors for families to consider.

Studies show that well-planned activities help deter at-risk youth from criminal activities and can provide a constructive environment. Collaborative group activities also help kids learn to socialize and build bonds.

The Hillsborough Community Center will offer year-round activities and childcare for children of all ages, including special programs for summer and winter camp. We aim to have the Center open to accommodate many multi-generational programs from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. six days a week.

Teens, tweens, and younger children alike will all have organized opportunities for swimming (lessons and pool time with an instructor), indoor and outdoor ball sports, fitness, games, a playground with equipment for young and old, as well as a community garden and makerspace. There will be cooking classes, art instruction, educational programs, homework time, and more.

Our professional kitchen will be equipped to serve healthy, delicious meals and snacks – choices of foods that children will actually want to eat, and at a reasonable cost based on your family’s income.

The Hillsborough Community Center will leverage membership fees, donations, and federal and state grant programs to maintain access for everyone. We will also partner with other nonprofit organizations to extend their current offerings.
